After 17 months of being unemployed and bored I am now anything but that! Today I began a full time nanny gig for the sweetest 12 week old, Brandon. It's going to take a while to having to be up every morning and and not be able to do any of my daytime errands that I have really LOVED being able to do. And sadly, the lonely factor doesn't go away with this, but I am so excited about having a routine again, an income and spending my days with the sweetest little guy ever! :) I'll also be with their 2 1/2 year old daughter on some days when I pick her up from school. It may be every day, but obviously a majority of my time is spent with just the little one. For these last few weeks of Spring quarter, I am leaving a little early to make it to class on time. But starting in the summer, I'll be taking all my classes at the Chicago campus so I can work until 5:00 but still be to class by 6:00. Crazy all the changes in the past year! It's been quite the journey! Technically the blog should end since I started it to capture all the things I see while being unemployed but I won't be stopping now. May have to change the title when I move in the fall but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. :)

Plant it Pink - Garden of Hope
It's been so long but I am glad to finally have a minute to update my blog! First picture I wanted to share was the beautiful tulips that I love to see each Spring. When I did my internship at the DuPage County Health Department I helped with a project to raise breast cancer awareness called "Plant it Pink. - Gardens of Hope" The Women's Wellness Coalition (which I LOVED being part of for the short 4 months I was there) found areas all over DuPage County that would plant pink tulip bulbs in October (breast cancer awareness month) that would spring up every April/May and when they did, there would be signage to accompany the flowers reminding women to get their breast cancer screenings. So every spring when I pass the Health Department, I think of the days I worked there and the amazing people who helped to shape my public health career. (LOL, what little I had of it!)
Are you doing your monthly breast-self exams? As I was reminded by my woman-parts doctor last week, I am NOT but will begin!! Hope you do too!
